About Vladimir Sitnikov
Vladimir Sitnikov: . . .A new meaning is added nowadays to the old idea about the museum as of some temple of arts. The modern museum wants to be more required and more popular. That many people are now attending gatherings, shows, gala-dinners, events, etc., as never before. What an individual feels like inside those large masses of people eager to pass through the Pantheon of Arts? The floor plans of modern museums, either small or big, are very complicated, exactly like a labyrinth. A newcomer may easily lost his way over there, or even never find the way back out. Meeting with arts is like a mystery, but that mystery that suppresses the person, who needs to escape by running, as the only possible way to get out. The evacuation plans hanging on the walls become his only available Ariadne's clew able to bring a survival.
Objects placed on Plexiglas look exactly the same as real evacuation plans, but the effect produces by them is completely unhelpful, in case of emergency they are useless. Pragmatically, the plans are magician imitations, again, bearing the initial abstract meaning of the museum as of temple of arts. His objects, as well as arts in a whole, are an optical deceit, a magic, which brings no salvation, though. The plans are non-functional, they live by their own established esthetical rules, namely, by the rules of arts.
